Her figures and figurines of men and women, children, in different postures and forms – sitting, reading, talking or busy in everyday activities are moulded by hand and fired before she adds her final touches for installation. The “fisherwoman”, traffic island at Panaji and the figure of “Risen Christ” at the Bambolim church in Goa are a few of the many outdoor installations she has done all over the world.

About the Artist
Verodina De Sousa is a renowned multi-talented Goan sculptor with more than 25 years of experience to her hood. She graduated from the Goa College of Art and enrolled herself at the Teacher’s Training Center in Mumbai for a training course in clay. Starting off as a potter and to make ends meet with her husband and painter, Francis De Sousa, she resorted to pottery. At a later stage, she moved off to sculpting in search of a continuous self-realization, thereby transforming her thoughts to forms and figures. Always eager to learn and employ new techniques, she progressed from simple forms to creating expressive wood, stoneware and terracotta sculptures.
