A craft believed to have been introduced to Goa by the Portuguese nuns of the Santa Monica Church, Goan crochet is a tradition practiced today primarily by women in North Goa, especially the city of Panjim (now Panaji)

About the Artist
Prem Kumari comes from Corlim in Old Goa. She has practiced this Goan textile craft for the last 35 years. It has been passed down in her family across three generations. A pure handmade craft, the unique stitch of crochet is what makes it beautiful. She makes earrings, garments, flowers, fruits, dolls and lots more in crochet. She has trained over 2000 students in crochet making across India, and is a trainer at NIFT Mumbai.
