The spirit of alcohol start-ups in spirit space is alive in Goa like nowhere else in the world. Projeto Goa celebrates the spirited start-ups of Goa with a special spirit gallery, a special display exhibit celebrating all the different Fenis alongside a write-up about their history. Given that Feni is a 450 year old tradition and that there are only 5 Feni brands in Goa affiliated to the association and have a GI tag that is watchdog on Feni policies and production.

Madame Rosa
Madame Rosa is one of Goa’s oldest distilleries and was founded by the visionary Valentino Vaz. He’s also a leading campaigner to get the GI registration for Feni. Apart from their flagship brand, Big Boss Fenny, Madame Rosa has been manufacturing multiple brands under the name of Madame Rosa 1933. Many Goans and feni lovers have enjoyed brands like Big Boss Fenny, PVV and Lembrança, but many didn’t know that all those brands belonged to Madame Rosa 1933.

Cazcar Heritage Distillery
Cazcar, a Heritage Distiller distilling Handcrafted Feni in traditional methods. FENI has a fruity flavor and unique characteristics being distilled at 43% V/V and bottled in its natural state. Cazcar also produces Masala Feni (spices) wherein 15 types of herbs & condiments are added to the fermented juice while distilling in the copper pot which enables the Feni to imbibe the extracts of herbs & spices. Launi clay pot receiver is a rarity and not found anywhere else other than at Cazcar as our philosophy is to maintain the traditional art and promote its heritage value and commitment to propagate to the organic qualities and benefits of Caju feni.
About Bottle: Launi Caju Feni has been distilled in the traditional century old copper pot and clay still process by skilled Bhaticar (Traditional Distiller). The local ripe cashew apple juice is extracted hygienically in stainless steel dewaterer and fermented using natural strains. Launi Caju Feni derives its unique flavour, taste and characteristics from the double distillation in clay pot receiver. Launi is one of its kind rarely produced due to its laborious process and non availability of artisans. Launi Caju Feni is extremely rare and a drink made specially for the connoisseur and lovers of the traditional drink Caju Feni made available in very limited quantity through select outlets.

Haldankar Liquor Industries
Since 1959 to as of now our 3 rd generation is engaged in the business of Distillation of cashew feni which is our ancestral cum traditional business. Prior to Goa Liberation i.e. since 1959 our ancestors were brewing Caju fenny in big mud vessel called as “Lavani”. This Caju fenny was then and even today is stored in wooden barrels made of special preservative wood locally called as “MIRAYO”. The then stored fenny was sold locally through our shop called “TAVERNA” (now BARs). After the liberation of Goa, gradually over the period we adapted the modern and new hygienic technique of Caju fenny distillation.

Rhea Distilleries
Nestled at the foot of the Sahyadris, in the quaint picturesque village of Nuvem in South Goa, with the fresh spring waters of the river Sal flowing through it, Rhea Distilleries, is Goa’s oldest operating distillery. The Late Antonio Jose was also the first in Goa to bottle Feni (both cashew feni and coconut feni). We at Rhea Distilleries, have been reinventing feni in the recent years, with a greater focus on more premium expressions. The result has been a feni with no shortage of history, but one that embraces modernity too.
